Farnaz Pardasani - The Trusted Voice for the School Board

Farnaz Pardasani fills critical gaps in the composition of the School Board and is uniquely positioned to work across the district to Raise the Bar for All Children.

As a parent of 3 children across elementary, middle and high schools in the district, she is the best candidate to champion solutions grounded in the realities of today’s environment and aligned with parents’ perspectives and values in our community.

Today’s board and current candidates are dominated by a background in education, but we need diversity of expertise on the board for effective steering and accountability.  Farnaz’s business/professional experience fills an important gap and brings much needed financial and management acumen to a $100M enterprise undergoing financial strains and many large projects.

Her decade long commitment to volunteering and leading in our district clearly demonstrates a level of commitment and passion no other candidate can match.  More importantly, it gives her the understanding, network and credibility to meaningfully drive change and challenge status quo.

Why is Farnaz the Clear Choice?

Who is Farnaz

  • Master’s in industrial organizational design; Bachelors in psychology
  • Current Board member of Los Alamitos Education Foundation (LAEF) who has helped raise money and innovate in areas of student wellness, innovation/STEM, and career/college readiness; founding Leadership Circle Member at LAEF.

A Message from Farnaz:

I've been an active member of our district since my first child joined kindergarten in 2013 and will be until my third child graduates high school in 2032 (gulp ðŸ˜Š).  I've seen the challenges and changes the past decade has brought, as well as the resilience the district and our children have shown.  While overall the district is performing well on many dimensions, I believe we can Raise the Bar in several areas:

Academics - Education is our most powerful tool for the future.  We are performing highly in many areas, but this success is not being experienced uniformly across all sites and populations.  For example, some elementary schools are consistently outperforming others in the areas of math and language arts. I will ensure we are leveraging best practices and sharing knowledge across the district so all schools can benefit from what’s working and drive best outcomes for ALL children.

STEM - In a rapidly advancing world, I am passionate about enriching our STEM education, especially at the elementary and middle school levels, igniting our students' interest early to best prepare them for tomorrow's job market.  I have been spearheading key efforts through LAEF to elevate our current programming and look forward to applying those learnings at the board level.

Parent Perspectives and Value-Centric Policies - Raising healthy, well-functioning, and value-centered children has never been more difficult than it is today.  As a parent of 3 children across elementary, middle and high schools in the district, I see firsthand the challenges experienced by our kids and parents.  This uniquely enables me to be the voice for parents at all levels. I believe we need to raise and tackle the tough questions on the minds of the community: use of technology / social media, professional decorum, which topics belong inside and outside of the classroom, etc.

Financial and Management Practices - With impending funding cuts in Newsom's latest budget, prioritizing resources and attention on student outcomes is crucial.  The current board and candidate field leans heavily toward an education background. My professional experience in management consulting and business equips me with the management, planning and financial acumen needed to guide us through these challenges. I will ensure we are prioritizing what matters most and getting the most out of our investments.

  ***

Simply said, I have been raising the tough questions on behalf of parents and collaborating across our district to drive innovation and outcomes for over a decade.  I look forward to channeling my expertise and passion for excellence in all dimensions as your board member.

- Farnaz
