Causes
One way to really get to know a candidate is to understand the causes that they and their family care about, spend their time on, and financially support. For Farnaz and her family, these causes have many ties to our community and topics that intersect with our schooling system.
Los Alamitos Education Foundation - LAEF's mission to support all students ranging from elementary age to high school within its nine schools through after-school enrichment programs, STEM and Innovation funding, and mental health wellness centers. Farnaz and her husband are founding members of the LAEF Leadership Circle (since 2020) and in 2021 Farnaz joined the Board, where she is now the Board Secretary. Farnaz has been spearheading new areas of focus for the Foundation, including college/career readiness and innovation/STEM.
PTA – Working with parents and teachers, the PTA helps our students thrive across our schools. Farnaz was a member of the PTA Board at McGaugh Elementary from 2017-2021 and served as the President from 2019-2021. As President, she led the team through a revamp of its financial controls and transparency and innovation in programming in many areas (Math Night, Astronomy Night, International Day). She continues to be an active contributor and volunteer for PTA activities.
Project SEEK - Project SEEK is a non-profit that's sole focus is to support student enrichment in the areas of STEM and Arts at McGaugh Elementary School in Seal Beach. Farnaz and her husband have been active donors, sponsors, volunteers and participants of Project SEEK and its events since 2013, when their oldest child enrolled at McGaugh as a Kindergartner.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County – Helping eliminate hunger in Orange County is the mission of the Second Harvest Food Bank. Farnaz and her husband are donors to the Food bank and her family volunteers regularly at the distribution center. Farnaz’s husband, Neil, is a member of the Board of Directors at the Food bank and leads the Strategy Committee of the Board.
Arts and Youth Sports in our Local Community
Farnaz and her family are active participants and supporters of the Arts and Youth Sports in the Community - coaching, volunteering, and as active participants and spectators!
